Meningioma

Meningiomas are tumors that arise from the coverings of the brain. They can develop anywhere in the head and vary in size and location. Most meningiomas are benign (noncancerous), but a small percentage may require additional treatments such as radiation therapy.

Treatment depends on:

  • Tumor size and growth rate

  • Location within the brain

  • Which brain structures are affected

While some meningiomas do not require treatment, surgical removal may be recommended if the tumor causes symptoms or grows significantly.

Treatment Options

Surgical Options:

Minimally Invasive Resection → For accessible tumors, a keyhole approach can minimize recovery time.

Craniotomy for Tumor Removal → A traditional approach for large or deep-seated meningiomas.

Non-Surgical Options:

Radiation Therapy → Used for inoperable tumors or residual tumor control.

Observation → Some small, slow-growing tumors may not need immediate treatment.

Each case is unique, and treatment is tailored based on tumor size, location, and symptoms.
