Aneurysm - Microsurgery

Microsurgery for aneurysms involves making an opening while the patient is asleep and using a specialized operating microscope with fine instruments to expose and treat the aneurysm. A titanium clip is often placed to seal the aneurysm, preventing leakage.

Minimally invasive "keyhole" approaches can be used to reduce impact on the brain. These include:

  • Mini-pterional approach

  • Eyebrow approach

  • Inter-hemispheric approach

Every aneurysm has a microsurgical option, though not all need treatment. Microsurgery and endovascular treatment are considered based on the aneurysm type.
